The Sehome girls' tennis team held on to defeat Burlington-Edison 4-3 at home in a non-conference game Friday, March 22.
"Burlington is a really tough team and their experience really helped them," Sehome coach Bonna Giller said in a phone interview. "Our singles players played really well and really controlled the matches. All of the doubles were really close and could have gone either way."
Simone Hall won the second singles 6-1, 6-1 and Lauren Smith won the third singles 6-1, 6-1 for the Mariners (3-0).
Madison and Taylor Harris won the first doubles for Sehome 7-5, 6-4.
"I'm just happy because we have a young team and they battled," Giller said. "I'm happy with this outcome this early in the season."
Sehome travels to Squalicum for a non-conference match on Tuesday, March 26.
