Kane's h home run lifts Ferndale over Oak Harbor

Kadence Kane lifted Ferndale softball over Oak Harbor, 7-5, with a three-run home run in the top of the eighth on Friday, March 22, at Oak Harbor in a non-conference matchup.

"They were throwing the ball on the outside, and we finally figured it out in the eighth," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview.

The Golden Eagles held a four-run lead in the fourth, but they surrendered a three-run fifth that allowed Oak Harbor to tie the game and force extra innings. Scarlett Nyenhuis had a triple and three RBI while also picking up the win in the circle.

Ferndale (0-1 NWC, 1-4 overall) plays Meridian on Saturday, March 23, at Meridian.
