Ferndale opens NWC season with loss to Anacortes

Published: March 22, 2013

The Ferndale softball team managed to dodge the rain drops and hail stones that started to fall, but not Anacortes in a Northwest Conference season-opening 12-0 loss on Thursday, March 21.

Jacquelyn Anderson picked up both hits for the Golden Eagles (0-4, 0-1 NWC) and stole a base.

"We are starting to recognize the things we need to change," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "We are learning from our experiences. Every time out is a learning opportunity and a chance to get better. Little things keep cropping up that we're doing better and better each time."

Ferndale next travels to Oak Harbor for a non-league game on Friday, March 22.
