Squalicum can't overcome 14-run deficit

Published: March 22, 2013

The Squalicum softball team couldn't overcome a 14-run fourth inning deficit, falling to Oak Harbor 19-9 on Thursday, March 21, at Squalicum High School.

Dakota Littlefield helped spark a sixth inning rally with a bases-clearing double, but Oak Harbor answered with a four-run seventh to put the game out of reach.

"Obviously, they jumped out to a 11-1 lead, and then we came up with that big sixth inning when we couldn've been 10-runned," Squalicum coach Loran Zenonian said in a phone interview. "We didn't give up, and there wasn't any quit."

Squalicum (1-4) travels to Burlington-Edison to begin Northwest Conference play Tuesday, March 26.
