The Squalicum baseball team lost 3-2 in eight innings at Anacortes in a non-conference game Thursday, March 21.

"We played our hearts out and lost a heartbreaker," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "It was a great high school baseball game. A good defensive battle, great pitching and a lot of great defensive plays."

Squalicum scored in the seventh inning to tie the game and force extra innings.

The Storm was led by Tim Lann, who batted 1 for 3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base, and Ben Tripp, who batted 2 for 3 with a RBI.

"Carter Nickelson was outstanding defensively and I think he had seven or eight put outs," Inge said. "Anacortes is a good team and a tough one to lose but I am very proud of the poise and character my guys are showing. We are really getting better."

Squalicum hosts Ferndale in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, March 23.
