The Blaine baseball team defeated Mount Baker 10-7 on Thursday, March 21, at Mount Baker High School.

Dwayne Ortega picked up the win on the mound, and Zach Rector provided three hits in the winning effort.

"For us, we gave up two big innings," Mount Baker coach Quinn LeSage said in a phone interview. "On the hill, we made too many mistakes and Blaine took advantage of them."

Cody Larson had a double, two hits and two RBI for the Mountaineers.

Blaine (3-1) travels to Meridian on Friday, March 22, while Mount Baker (1-3) hosts Lynden Christian on Monday, March 25. Both are non-conference matchups.
