The Bellingham boys' golf team outscored Sehome and Squalicum to win the City Championship at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club Thursday, March 21.
Bellingham shot a 406, Sehome shot a 433 and Squalicum shot a 507.
"It was a great opportunity for the kids from our city to get together and play an event with the kids they grew up with," Squalicum coach Jeff Tetrick said in a phone interview. "I think that is something really good for the kids in our city to do and the Bellingham golf and country club provided an excellent venue for that."
Cody Roth from Bellingham High School shot a 75 to medal at the event.
"I think Cody stayed consistent and didn't get into trouble and he really stayed in control of his game," Tetrick said. "He didn't do anything spectacular but he just stayed down the middle and made his putts."
Peter Kolodychuk shot 79 for Bellingham, and EJ Troutman shot an 83.
Sehome was led by Will McCarter, who shot a 79, and Ben Carroll shot an 82.
Squalicum was led by Tavo O'connell, who shot an 88, and Tyler Hoback, who shot a 95.
"Tavo struggled off the tee a little bit but he is our sophomore team captain and did a great job keeping his composure and finishing strong," Tetrick said. "He has the potential to really play but he just had a frustrating day."
All three teams will compete in the Birger Solberg tournament Thursday, March 28.
