The Lynden Christian boys' soccer team was able to score two goals in 3 minutes to come back and defeat Blaine 3-2 at home in a Northwest Conference game Wednesday, March 20.
"I thought we played valiantly considering the conditions," Lynden Christian coach Brent De Ruyter said in a phone interview. "We had a great effort and it was tough to come back, especially after having a tough game last night. The team really did some nice things to get us back in after being down."
Lucas Reardon scored the game's first goal in the 12th minute for Lynden Christian (1-1-0 NWC, 3-2-0).
Nick Butschli scored both of Blaine's (0-2-0 NWC, 1-4-0) goals, one in the 16th minute and the other in the 32nd.
Reardon was able to get an assist on Lynden Christian's second goal after setting Cody Fransen up in the 45th minute. Trevor Dalla Santa scored the final goal in the 48th minute.
"Reardon played a great game all around," De Ruyter said. "He had a goal and an assist, but he did so much more than that. He was all over the midfield and then we put him in the back to sure up the win."
Both Blaine and Lynden Christian play Northwest Conference matches on Friday, March 22, with the Borderites traveling to Nooksack and the Lyncs traveling to Bellingham.
