Ferndale offensive plates 11 in win over Baker

Published: March 20, 2013

The Ferndale baseball team strung together some timely hitting when it counted, besting Mount Baker 11-2 on Tuesday, March 19, at Ferndale High School.

"They (Ferndale) definitely took advantage of our pitcher's mistakes," Mountaineers coach Quinn LeSage said in a phone interview. "We had runners on first and third with less than one out in the second and the third, so we had chances early to score, but we didn't get timely hits when we needed them."

Chase Olson picked up the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles, and Austyn Sprague and Anthony Pace combined for five hits and four RBI. Kaleb Brownfield wen 2 for 3 with a double and a stolen base for Mount Baker.

The Golden Eagles (3-2) will host Bellingham on Wednesday, March 20, while Mount Baker (1-2) hosts Blaine, both non-conference games.
