Lynden defeats Ferndale 12-0

The Lynden softball team defeated Ferndale 12-0 in five innings in a non-conference game Tuesday, March 19, in Ferndale.

"We would have liked to hit the ball better," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "We are struggling to hit the ball and struggling at the plate, but I think with time we will overcome that."

The Lions (2-2) were led by Mandy Warner, who batted 2 for 4 with a double, and Tanna Benson, who batted 3 for 4 with three doubles. Winning pitcher Brooke Bonsen also batted 1 for 3 with a double.

The Golden Eagles (0-3) were led by Jacquelyn Anderson, who batted 1 for 2, and Sydney Shawler, who batted 1 for 1 with a double.

Ferndale travels to Oak Harbor on Wednesday, March 20, for a non-conference game, while Lynden travels to Meridian on Thursday, March 21, to open NWC play.
