The Blaine softball team was able to hold on to defeat Lynden Christian 11-7 in five innings in a non-conference game Tuesday, March 19, in Lynden.
"We came out pretty strong and things were looking good from the beginning," Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. "Ashley Bolick came out and kind of struggled to find the strike zone in the first but was able to strike out all six batters the next two innings."
Burk said the weather played a factor in the fifth inning being sloppy. The game was called short because of weather.
Blaine (3-0) was led by Hanna Kiele, who batted 3 for 3 with a run and two RBI, and Lexi Greguski, who batted 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI. Ashley Bolick won the game for Blaine.
The Lyncs were led by Kasey Luna, who batted 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, Karley De Jager, who batted 2 for 2 with a run and an RBI and Lexi Vander Griend, who batted 1 for 3 with a triple and three RBI.
Lynden Christian (1-1) hosts Mount Baker on Wednesday, March 20, in a non-conference game, while Blaine travels to Burlington-Edison on Friday, March 22, to begin conference play.
