The Squalicum softball team plated 12 runs in the first inning in route to a 23-13 win over Bellingham in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 19, at Squalicum High School.
"Bellingham got six runs on us and we came back and got 12," Storm coach Loran Zenonian said in a phone interview. "We stayed patient, and we hit the ball well and ran the bases well."
Lendsay Pysden keyed the win for Squalicum, going 4 for 5 with a double and four RBI while also picking up the win in the circle.
Julia Latimer went 3 for 4 with three runs and a double in the Red Raiders' losing effort.
Squalicum hosts Oak Harbor in a non-conference game on Thursday, March 21, while Bellingham travels to Mount Baker on Friday, March 22, to begin conference play.
