Richard and Barbara McCollum

Richard J.W. McCollum and Barbara J. (Welsh) McCollum of Bellingham celebrate their 60th anniversary at a no gift reception at St. Pauls Episcopal Church. They were married March 21, 1953 at the bride’s home in Bellingham. Barbara is a career long army officer’s wife and homemaker and a past president of The Aftermath Club. She is currently active in the Chancel Guild of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Richard retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army in 1978 and is also a retired teacher. They attend St. Pauls Episcopal Church and are active in the Sehome Neighborhood Association and Block Watch activities. Their daughters are Rebecca Green (Larry) of Homeland, Calif, Catherine Frye (Alan) of Deming, and Lea Bocek (Karl) of Bellingham. They have four grandchildren Kellie, Allison, Molly and Jered. And two great grandchildren, Laila and Addison. They attribute their successful marriage to mutual respect and support, working together to acheive common goals and strong religious beliefs.
