The Squalicum girls' tennis team was able to defeat Anacortes 5-2 in a non-conference match Monday, March 18, in Anacortes.
"It was our first match and we actually had a chance to play so things went well for us," Squalicum coach Joe O'Brien said in a phone interview. "The girls were a little hesitant at first but they all settled in and played really well."
Tirsa Randall-Grutter was able to win the third singles for the Storm 6-4, 6-3, and Sarah Byron won the fourth singles 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
"One of the best matches was with Tirsa," O'Brien said. "She played quite well and I was impressed with her effort."
