Big eighth inning as Trojans defeate La Conner 13-3

The Meridian baseball team scored eight runs in the fifth inning to defeat La Conner 13-3 in five innings in a non-conference game at home Monday, March 18.

"We were able to make some good adjustments and swing the bats really well," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "We haven't been able to make early adjustments at the plate but we were able to make some adjustments early on and have better at-bats."

The Trojans (3-0) were led by Jake Plagerman, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBI, Kyler Linderman ,who hit 2 for 3, and Jeremy Brockman, who batted 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI. Brockman also earned the win as the pitcher.

"We played good defense again," Slesk said. "I was really happy with our defense. Jeremy didn't have his best stuff but our defense was solid again."

Meridian will host Blaine in a non-conference game Friday, March 22.
