Lions, Trojans battle to 0-0 draw

Published: March 19, 2013

The Lynden and Meridian boys' soccer teams played to a 0-0 draw in a Northwest Conference match in Lynden on Monday, March 18.

"It was a good game for both teams and a good battle," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. "Hector Guttierez had some good saves. It was a good team effort all around and we played well."

Lynden (0-0-1 NWC, 1-1-3) was led by Guttierez, who preserved the shutout as the goalkeeper.

"Meridian played really well," Smiley said. "We're just improving and getting more fit each game. We are a slow-starting team and we're trying to find the net on a consistent basis."
