Ferndale boys' soccer team lost to Anacortes 2-1 on Monday, March 18, at Anacortes High School.

Anacortes' Gunner Rongren got the Seahawks on the board first with a goal in the 19th minute. Ferndale's David Gammonreese answered with a goal of his own in the 36th minute, but Rongred scored on his second penalty kick of the game in the second half to edge the Golden Eagles.

"We played intensely, but we couldn't get much on a field like that," Ferndale coach Scott Browne said in a phone interview. "We had effort all the way around, and Michael Steele is a threat to any team, and he did an outstanding job today."

Ferndale (0-1-0 NWC, 0-4-0 overall) travels to Mount Baker on Wednesday, March 20.
