The Blaine boys' soccer team lost 4-0 at home to Burlington-Edison in a Northwest Conference match Monday, March 18.
"We came out strong, expecting a tough battle with Burlington," Blaine coach Mike Couto said in a phone interview. "My two center mids did a great job putting a lot of effort to try and slow the game down and interrupt their possession."
Blaine (0-1-0 NWC, 1-3-0) goalkeeper Bud Halldorsen had 23 saves in the loss.
"Burlington is a strong team but I think we represented well against them," Couto said. "Blaine played a hard game and had a few injuries and I had to move some guys around. I walk away really encouraged by what I saw today. We need to work on some things on defense, though, like being able to slow down the play."
Blaine's next game is Wednesday, March 20, against Lynden Christian at Bender Fields in an NWC match.
