The Lynden softball team was able to come back to defeat Sehome 9-8 at home in a non-conference game Monday, March 18.
"It was an early season game," Lynden coach Steve Petersen said in a phone interview. "It was a little sloppy and wild. Both teams put the ball in play consistently and made the defense play."
Sehome took an 8-5 lead at the top of the sixth, but Lynden was able to get players on base and the Mariners made a few mistakes, allowing Lynden to have a big inning, Petersen said.
The Mariners (1-2) were led by Rachel Albert, who hit 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and Gabby Gorosave, who batted 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Lynden (1-2) were led by Mandy Warner, who batted 1 for 3 with two runs, and Tanna Benson, who batted 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
Lynden will travel to Ferndale on Tuesday, March 19, while Sehome travels to Lynden Christian on Friday, March 22, both non-conference.
