Lynden Christian boys' soccer team defeated Blaine 5-0 Saturday, March 16, at Pipeline Fields.
Cody Fransen got the Lyncs off to a quick start, scoring the first goal of the game in the seventh minute. Lucas Reardon and Toby Dalla Santa scored in the 15th and 18th minutes, respectively, and the Borderites were never able to recover from the early deficit.
"We came out with a pretty low energy, and it definitly cost us," Blaine coach Mike Couto said in a phone interview of his team's early-game woes. "In the second half, Blaine came out and held their own, but we weren't able to connect enough to get one into the net."
Fransen and Dalla Santa finished with two goals apiece.
Both Blaine (1-2) and Lynden Christian (2-1) play on Monday, March 18, with the Borderites hosting Burlington-Edison and the Lyncs traveling to Sehome.
