Bogart has big day in the rain to lift Lynden

Published: March 17, 2013

Isaac Bogart had a hand in every goal for the Lynden boys' soccer team in a 3-1 victory over Friday Harbor and the rain on Saturday, March 16.

Bogart assisted Jordan Hernandez and Logan Smith on the Lions' first two goals, before scoring the third off an assist from Smith.

"Those were his first two points of the season for us, but we've been playing some pretty good teams to this point," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview.

Bogart's production was even more impressive considering the elements he and everyone had to face at Bender Fields.

"The field was in bad shape, and it was a torrential downpour," Smiley said. "Just to get any goal production was nice. The ball didn't roll, and the wind was going about a million miles an hour."

Lynden (1-1-2) opens Northwest Conference play on Monday, March 18, when it hosts Meridian.
