Coach: Katrina Henry
Last year: Finished third at the NWC Championships. Finished second at the 2A Northwest District meet. Finished third at the 2A State Championships.
Returning state participants: Brittany Gappa (sr. 1,600, 3,200), Allie Kohr (jr. 100 hurdles), Julia DeVere (so. 4x100), Lauren Gibb (jr. 4x100), Gina Flint (sr. shot put*, discus*), Kirsten Webber (so. pole vault*), Tori Franzen (sr. pole vault), Madi Krussow (jr. pole vault), Zoe Peterson (sr. triple jump)
Others to watch: Andrea DeVere (sr. sprints), Kim Hazlett (fr. sprints), Erin Gibson (so. hurdles)
Outlook: With nine returning state participants from last year, including athletes who combined to win three state titles, Henry obviously is excited about what she sees in the Storm this year. But it goes well beyond those nine athletes. "A lot of our state returners are seniors, but I think a lot of younger kids will step up and come up big this year," Henry said. "We have a lot of depth in each event. We have one or two really good people and a lot more talented people behind them. I think we can perform well and do well at state if everyone does well." Gappa hopes to go out with a bang in the distance events, while Flint is the defending champion in the shot put and discus. Add in three state placers in the pole vault and a number of other talented athletes, and it all adds up to big potential. Henry also is expecting big things from Gibson, who switches from the sprints to the hurdles.
