The Blaine girls' softball team jumped all over Squalicum, scoring seven runs in the first inning en route to a 16-1 win Friday, March 15, at Blaine High School.
Senior Ashley Bolick led the way for the Borderites, going 3 of 4 with three runs and two RBI. Bolick also tossed in four one-run innings in the circle, striking out three in Blaine's opening game of the season.
"It was an outstanding start to our season," Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. "We made it a goal at the beginning of the week to not commit more than three errors, and we did that."
Squalicum's Lauren Eckert knocked in the Storms' only RBI in the fourth inning.
