The Blaine girls' tennis team defeated Anacortes 5-2 in a non-conference match Friday, March 15, in Anacortes.
"We were really glad to be able to play today finally and it was nice to get a win on top of it," Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview. "We played pretty well for our first outing and I'm really pleased."
The Borderites (1-0) were led by Saskia Dolk who won the second singles match over Ashleigh Neitcel 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Mandy Hayes and Emily Roe won the second doubles set over Meghan Geer and Miranda Millard 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
"The second doubles had a really nice comeback," Freal said. "They were down 5-2 in the second and came back and won five in a row to win and they had a really good outing."
Blaine hosts Ferndale on Monday, March 18, in a non-conference game.
