The Mount Baker boys' baseball team held Squalicum scoreless through the first six innings, defeating the Storm 6-1 on Friday, March 15, in a non-conference game at Squalicum High School.

Kaleb Brownfield picked up the win for the Mountaineers on the mound, and Andrew Zender provided the offense with a game-high three RBI.

"Baker was outstanding defensively," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "We hit the ball better than it looks, and (defense) was the key part of the game."

Squalicum starting pitcher Brad Alvord went 6 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs.

"Brad pitched a great game," Inge said.

Mount Baker hosts Ferndale on Tuesday, March 19, and Squalicum travels to Sehome on Monday, March 18.
