The Blaine boys' baseball team hung 10 runs on La Conner in the first inning, defeating the Braves 11-0 in five innings Friday, March 15, in a non-conference game at La Conner High School.
"We came out in the first inning, and we were very aggressive and jumped on them," Blaine baseball coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview. "We got some walks, got some key hits, and when you put 10 runs in the first innings, it's a pretty good (thing)."
Blaine's Brett Allen and Dwayne Ortega combined for three hits and five RBI, while Zach Rector threw four shut-out innings in his first win of the season.
"He threw a lot of strikes, he located well and he was aggressive," Linvill said.
