The Blaine girls' track team lost 104-46 at home to Burlington-Edison in a non-conference meet Thursday, March 14.
"We're pretty small and that showed today," Blaine coach Carey Bacon said in a phone interview. "That made it difficult for us but I thought it was a good start. I'm encouraged by the people that performed well."
Blaine was led by Malie Laolagi, who won the shot put, discus and javelin. Her mark in the shot put was 31 feet 5.75 inches, in discus she threw for 82-10 and in javelin 87-07.
Blaine next competes against Meridian and Nooksack Valley on Wednesday, March 20, at Nooksack Valley High School.
