The Meridian, Lynden and Sedro-Woolley track teams competed in a double dual track and field meet at Meridian High School on Thursday, March 14.
"For a first time out, I think it was good for the kids to finally get some competition and run some of their events full speed," Meridian coach Patrick Ames said in a phone interview. "The weather wasn't favorable, but it was a good experience for the kids to manage a meet."
Meridian was led by Kelby Todd, who won the 800 meter in 2 minutes, 5 seconds, and Sam Tanner, who won the pole vaut with a mark of 11 feet, 6 inches.
The Lions were led by Robbie Swineford, who won the 1,600 meter in 4:59, and the 3,200 meter in 11:19.00.
