Haggen, Inc. has decided to close its TOP Food & Drug store in Federal Way.
The store is slated to close in four to six weeks.
Haggen, with the assistance of the UFCW Local 21 and Bakers Local 9 unions, is working to place its 48 employees at other Haggen stores.
The company announced in January that it was closing its Lacey store. In 2010 and 2011 it closed five stores in Washington and Oregon. The company will have 27 stores in Washington and Oregon after the Federal Way closure.
"At Haggen, we aim to continuously strengthen our business by evaluating the status and potential of our stores," said John Turley, co-president and senior vice president of operations at Haggen, Inc. in a news release. "Choosing to close this location is difficult knowing the impact it will have on our committed employees and loyal customers."
