Mount Baker edges Anacortes, 2-1

Mount Baker boys' soccer team pulled off a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Anacortes on Tuesday, March 12, at Anacortes High School.

Anacortes got on the board first with a goal in the 34th minute, but the Mountaineers' answered back in the 46th minute with a goal by Edgar Zavala off a Roman Vetkov cross.

"(Vetkov) beat a few defenders down the side and crossed the ball into the box, and Edgar hit into the corner," said Mount Baker coach Jake Jorgensen in a phone interview.

After knotting the game up, Mount Baker senior Zan Roman scored an unassisted goal in the 58th minute to seal the win.

Mount Baker (1-0) hosts Lynden Chrsitian on Thursday, March 14.
