Sehome fights back, earns 2-1 win at Ferndale

Published: March 13, 2013

The Sehome boys' soccer team was able to come back and earn a 2-1 win at Ferndale in a non-conference game Tuesday, March 12.

Ferndale was able to score first as Michael Steele put away a penalty kick in the 20th minute.

"It was a pretty even game for the first 30 minutes or so and we had good possession," Ferndale coach Scott Browne said in a phone interview. "It was just a matter of attrition - who would make the first mistake as the field got worse and worse."

The Mariners were able to score just before half when Charles Linneman scored and went ahead in the 65th minute after Zachary Wanne put it past Ferndale's goalkeeper.

"We possessed the ball well in the first half but it really showed what we need to work on in the second half," Browne said. "Steele did really well for us today and our keeper made some good saves. It was an even match the whole way and they just put one in the back of the net."

Ferndale hosts Bellingham on Thursday, March 14, while Sehome travels to Squalicum, both non-conference games.
