Late goal earns draw for Lynden against Sehome

Published: March 12, 2013

The Lynden boys' soccer team scored in the final 5 minutes to earn the 1-1 draw with Sehome at Civic Stadium on Monday, March 11, in a non-conference game.

"It was a great game and one of our best preseason games," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. "I thought our guys battled hard."

Jose Gutierrez scored off a corner kick from Alex Guenther for the Lions.

No information was available about the Sehome goal.

"I thought our outside mids, Carson Sandland and Alejandro Huante, played really well," Smiley said. "Their constant work rate - up and down the field and getting crosses in and battling hard - stood out."

Lynden plays at home against Lynden Christian on Tuesday, March 11, while Sehome travels to Ferndale, both non-conference games.
