The Ferndale baseball team was able to hold on in its 7-4 win at Stanwood in a non-conference game Monday, March 11.
Joey Akers earned the win for the Golden Eagles.
"Joey pitched really well and went out for the first game and kept his pitch count down," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. "He only had one strikeout but he kept it in the zone and we made the plays behind him."
Ferndale was led by Austyn Sprague, who batted 3 for 4 and had three RBI and a double; Kyler Brudwick, who batted 1-2, Pete Pennylegion, who hit 1-3 with two runs and Brady Bauthues who went 0-2 but had two RBI.
The Golden Eagles host Sehome in a non-conference game Tuesday, March 12.
