LUMMI ISLAND - After a two-month winter hibernation, The Willows Inn restaurant is reopening Thursday, March 7.
Known nationally for its locally fished, foraged and farmed food, the restaurant will have one seating a night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Wednesday seatings will be added between May 26 and Sept. 1.
The restaurant has been lauded in a variety of national publications and was recently selected as a 2013 top 10 U.S. travel destination by Lonely Planet. Food & Wine magazine selected the chef for Willows Inn on Lummi Island as one of the country's best new chefs for 2012. Blaine Wetzel was among 12 honored as rising culinary stars. He has been nominated twice for the James Beard Foundation's Rising Star Chef of the Year award.
