Western Washington University's Jake Webb placed 12th in medalist play and the Vikings tied for eighth among 16 teams at the St. Edward's University Men's Golf Invitational which ended Tuesday, March 5, in Austin, Texas.
WWU, ranked No. 8 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll, shot a final-round 327 for a 54-hole total of 919.
No. 2 Nova Southeastern took top honors at 874 (298), finishing 14 strokes ahead of No. 1 Barry (308=888). No. 5 Abilene Christian tied for third at 891with Barton.
Webb finished in a three-way tie for 12th at 222 (79).
The Vikings' Evan Needham was 29th at 228 (79), Kyle Schrader tied for 49th at 234 (84), Dylan Goodwin placed 61st at 240 (85) and Mark Strickland tied for 62nd at 243 (87).
Abilene Christian's Alex Carpenter took medalist honors at 3-under par 213 (76). That was two strokes better than runner-up Kevin Witte (79=215) from Colorado-Colorado Springs.
