BELLINGHAM - The city of Bellingham is holding an open house Thursday, March 7, to show the designs for the next phase of development for Squalicum Creek Park.

Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department officials also are seeking public comment.

The open house is 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bellingham Technical College, Building G cafeteria, 3028 Lindbergh Ave.

The park is at 1001 Squalicum Way in the Birchwood Neighborhood.

Proposals for this third phase include site preparation and grading, infrastructure and stormwater treatment, a new lighted and irrigated softball field, lighting the existing baseball field, new trails, picnic shelter, playground, fenced dog off-leash area, parking lot lighting and landscape planting.

Project funding will come from $540,000 in park impact fees and $4.7 million from the Greenways III levy.
