What goes bump in the night?

On Saturday, kids and their families can get a close look at creatures that live in Puget Sound, such as decorator crabs.

South Sound residents will have the chance to learn more about the creatures that call Puget Sound their home.

Pier Peer events will be held in Olympia and Tacoma on Saturday night.

At each event, a naturalist leads the way as the group uses lights to explore the marine life living underneath a local dock.

Here are the details:

Olympia: The South Sound Estuary Association will hold its event at Boston Harbor Marina at 8 p.m., 312 73rd Ave. NE, Olympia. $10 adult. 360-754-7371, sseacenter.wordpress.com/pier-peer.

Tacoma: The Tacoma Nature Center will hold its event at 7:30- 9 p.m. at Point Defiance Boathouse Marina, 5912 N. Waterfront Drive, Tacoma. $8.
