Two Western Washington University cross country athletes, Chip Jackson and Taylor Guenther, were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Academic All-Stars announced Monday.
Jackson, a senior from Seattle, is a mathematics major with a 3.93 (4.0 scale) grade point average. Last fall, he placed fourth at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships and 16th at the West Regional, earning all-star honors at both, and finished 155th at nationals.
Jackson was a four-time GNAC academic all-star.
Guenther, a freshman from Vancouver, has a 3.61 GPA. She is interested in majoring in either psychology or physical education.
