Chuckanut Drive reopens, downed power lines cleared

Published: February 25, 2013

Downed power poles and lines closed a portion of Chuckanut Drive for more than two hours south of the Whatcom County line Monday, Feb. 25, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Chuckanut Drive was closed between Bow Hill Road and Legg Road as high winds hit the region, and a detour was set up to reroute traffic around the closure.

The closure began shortly before 11 a.m. Puget Sound Energy crews were sent to repair the lines. All lanes reopened at about 1:45 p.m. near Bow Hill Road.
