It was a tale of two halves during a 78-74 NWAACC North Division loss by the Whatcom Community College men's basketball team to visiting Shoreline on Saturday, Feb. 23.
It was the regular-season finale for the Orcas (18-8, 10-4 North), who will next play at the NWAACC Tournament on Saturday, March 2, in Kennewick.
Whatcom led Shoreline 47-30 at halftime.
"We came out and played a really good first half," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "We handled the pressure in the first half. In the second half we didn't stick to it."
Shoreline (9-15, 7-7 North) was able to outscore Whatcom 48-27 in the second half as the Orcas ended the regular season on a two-game losing streak.
"This is valuable experience to us," Scrimsher said. "We've dropped the last two games but against quality teams, the types of teams we will be playing in the tournament."
Kyle Impero led Whatcom with 17 points and six assists. Zach Stalin had 14 points and 15 rebounds and Ian Tevis scored 12 points for the Orcas.
