Clutch shooting leads Cascade Christian to win in Mount Vernon Regional

MOUNT VERNON - The Cascade Christian girls' basketball team connected on several first-half 3-pointers and played tough second-half defense to help the Cougars earn a 57-40 win during the regional round of the Class 1A State Tournament Friday, Feb. 22, at Mount Vernon High School.

Woodland trailed 12-9 midway through the first quarter, but three consecutive 3s by Cascade Christian pushed the Cougars' lead to 21-9. Woodland was never able to make up the deficit.

Kaycee Creech scored a game-high 19 points to lead Cascade Christian. Cougars Katie Rozumny and Olivia Tuttle scored 14 and 11 points, respectively. Woodland's Jessica Flanagan and Sidra Malik each scored a team-high nine points.
