JOE BARRENTINE/STAFF FILE, 2009

The last winter event in Metro Parks Tacoma’s family nature walk series will be Saturday.

The program is led by a naturalist from the Tacoma Nature Center. Along the way, participants will discover plants and wildlife, and learn how they adapt to the seasons.

Saturday’s walk is from 10-11 a.m. at McKinley Park, 645 Upper Park St., Tacoma.

The event, meant for people of all ages, is free. The walk is not recommended for those who use strollers or wheelchairs, or for children younger than 3.

As space is limited, registration in advance is encouraged. You can do so at metroparkstacoma.org or by calling the Nature Center at 253-591-6439.

Walks titled “Spring is in the Air” will begin April 13 with a walk at Swan Creek Park.
