The Whatcom Community College women's basketball team got into a footrace and outlasted Everett Community College 83-75 on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at home.
Whatcom coach Sara Bergner said early foul trouble for the Orcas freed up Everett to get out and score in the first half.
"I thought we gave up way too many points than we would have liked," Bergner said in a phone interview. "It was a lot of back and forth and trading baskets."
Bree Park had 29 points, including eight 3-pointers, Cambie Edwards had 27 points and 16 rebounds and Erika Locker added 12 points for Whatcom.
"Cambie had a really big game and played well down the stretch," Bergner said, "and Bree shot really well from the 3-point line."
Ashley Albertson led Everett with 25 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Erin Feeney added 25 points.
With one game remaining in the regular season and a postseason berth already secured, WCC is tied for second place in the NWAACC North Division.
Whatcom will host Shoreline at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
