Four UW players sign with the Bells

Published: February 19, 2013

The Bellingham Bells announced the addition of University of Washington's Dae Kim, Alex Schmidt, Jack Meggs and Mitch Bevacqua to the Bells' roster for the 2013 season Monday, Feb. 18, in a press release.

Kim is a 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher and a junior at UW. He appeared in six games for the Huskies last year, throwing out of the bullpen.

"We expect Dae to do great things for the Bells this summer," Bellingham assistant coach Jim Clem said in a press release.

Schmidt is a sophomore infielder and is in his first season with UW after spending his freshman year at Western Nevada College. He led the junior college team to the JUCO World Series last season.

"We expect Alex to be an impact player for the Bells who could hit in the middle of order," Clem said.

Meggs and Bevacqua are both outfielders and both are incoming freshmen at UW. Meggs, who also plays quarterback, led Bellevue's football team to a state title, and Clem said Bevacqua "is a big recruit with a lot of interest from MLB."
