Kyle Impero, Alex Duncan, Zach Stalin and Nicholas Kussman each scored double figures to lead the Whatcom Community College men's basketball team to a 72-60 NWAACC win against Bellevue College Sunday, Feb. 17, at Bellevue.
Impero scored 17, Stalin added 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds and Duncan and Kussman each scored 12 points.
"It was a good team effort across the board," WCC coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview.
The Orcas led 37-24 at halftime and were able to extend their lead after Bellevue cut the margin to six in the second half. Though Whatcom committed 19 turnovers, Scrimsher said WCC counteracted the sloppy play with strong rebounding. Whatcom hauled in 48 boards compared to Bellevue's 35.
Whatcom held Bellevue to 32-percent shooting, while the Orcas shot 45 percent from the field.
WCC (18-6, 10-2 NWAACC) hosts Everett CC next at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20.
