Taylor V'Dovec led the Blaine girls' basketball team with 19 points and 11 rebounds to a 49-31 win over Port Townsend at Mountlake Terrace High School in a Class 1A Tri-District loser-out game Friday, Feb. 15.
Blaine moves on to a winner-to-state game against Eatonville on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Mountlake Terrace High School.
"We started off really strong and made some easy baskets," Blaine coach Ryan Pike said in a phone interview. "We came out with a lot of energy and were ready to play. We played hardf for four quarters and it was a good win for us."
Alexis McElwain added nine points and Mandy Hayes scored eight for the Borderites (19-6).
"We were passing the ball great and getting good open looks and executed the offense well," Pike said. "We were getting the shots we wanted. Taylor obviously had a good game. She came to play today and did a good job."
Blaine took a 27-9 haltime lead and was able to extend that to 40-18 at the end of the third.
The Borderites outrebounded Port Townsend 46-25.
