The Lummi boys' basketball season came to an end Thursday, Feb. 14, with a 45-39 loss to Muckleshoot Tribal in a consolation first-round game of the Class 1B Tri-District Tournament at Mount Rainier Lutheran.

"It was a tough way to end the season. We had a tough night shooting the ball," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview of the Blackhawks' 15 for 62 performance. "Credit Muckleshoot's defense for preventing us from shooting well from the field."

Charlie Wilson had seven points and nine rebounds for the Blackhawks, Joe Brady added nine points, including two 3-pointers, and Earl Johnson had seven points and five assists.

"It was a great regular season; it's just a tough way to end it," Toby said of the Blackhawks, who finish with an 18-5 record but also with two straight losses. "Muckleshoot came to play and we had a tough night scoring."

Josh Cline led Muckleshoot with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
