Western Washington University guard Richard Woodworth has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball co-Player of the Week for Feb. 3-9. Woodworth, a 6-foot-3 junior from Bellevue, had 45 points, hitting 16 of 26 shots, including four of nine three-pointers, in leading the Vikings to road victories over Northwest Nazarene, 70-59, and rival Central Washington, 92-82. He also had eight rebounds and team highs of five assists and four steals.
Woodworth, who shared the honor with Alaska Fairbanks center Sergej Pucar, is the fourth different Viking to earn the GNAC honor this season.
Woodworth was also one of three Vikings to earn conference honors this week.
Pitcher/first baseman Alexie Levin was selected the GNAC Softball Player of the Week, after the freshman hit .423 with 11 hits in 26 at bats, including four doubles and three triples, and also drove in a team-leading 10 runs. She had a 2-1 record and a 2.30 earned run average, allowing just nine runs and 22 hits in 21- 1/3 innings.
Karis Anderson was selected the GNAC Indoor Track & Field Female Field Athlete of the Week, after the senior improved her NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the women's pole vault by clearing 11 feet, 101/2 inches to place fourth at the University of Washington Open on Sunday.
