Baker's Dunford wins pole vault at UW Indoor Open

Mount Baker's Nathan Dunford won the men's pole vault in the afternoon session of the UW Indoor Open on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle.

Dunford, who was competing unattached, cleared 15 feet, 9 inches to beat out Lounan's Seth Cordell on jumps.

Squalicum's Gina Flint, who will be competing for UW next year, finished third in her flight and sixth overall in the women's shot put with a throw of 42-63/4, while Storm teammate Kirsten Webber placed fifth in the women's pole vault afternoon session by clearing 11-41/2.

Whatcom Tesseract sent a number of distance runners to compete, including Patrick Gibson (Squalicum) who placed fifth in the section of the men's mile with a time of 4:19.62. Tom Bradley (Blaine) was fourth in the third second in 4:20.41, while North Bennett (Squalicum) was 18th in the section in 4:42.06. Collin Magnusson (Meridian) was 13th in the fifth section in 4:40.25, while former Mount Baker runner Matt Dunford was 16th in the section in 4:42.47.

In the women's mile, Zanna Sullivan (Sehome) was eight in the fourth section in 5:35.56, Petra Armstrong was 10th in 5:39.34, Madison Sullivan was 12th in 5:40.10, Lainey Lesh (St. Paul's Academy) was 16th in 5:47.76 and Aven Hart was 19th in 5:54.69 for Whatcom Tesseract.
