Levin's big day leads WWU to win

Alexie Levin went 2 for 4, drove in four runs and scored two, as the Western Washington University softball team beat Black Hills State University 10-, at the fourth annual Montana State University Billings Desert Stinger Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Las Vegas.

The Vikings finished 4-1 in the three-day tournament and improved to 7-6 overall.

Levin hit a bases-loaded double to plate three runs, as WWU scored five in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-1 lead. She also had a run-scoring single in the Vikings' two-run third.

Haylee Baker (and Jackie Rothenberger each drove in two runs for WWU - Baker with a two-run double in the fifth. Kristen Allen scored four runs after singling, walking twice and reaching base on an error.

Levin pitched the last five innings for WWU to earn the win (3-2), giving up six hits and striking out five.

In the five tournament games, Levin hit .474 (9-for-19) with five extra-base hits (four doubles and a triple), 10 RBI and seven runs scored. She had a 2-0 pitching record and a 2.74 ERA.

WWU has a 24-day break before opening Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader against Montana State Billings on March 6 at Viking Field.
